Prerequisites

  • A Monsteria account
  • An email account with a supported provider (Gmail or Outlook). We recommend creating a brand new email account dedicated to your agent
  • If you plan to configure Events, an HTTP proxy tool (Ngrok, zrok, etc) is recommended for local development to expose your local server to the internet

Steps to Create an Agent

  1. Go to the Monsteria Dashboard
  2. Navigate to Agents
  3. Click “New”
  4. Fill in the required details to create a blank agent:
    • Channel Provider (e.g., Gmail, Outlook)
    • Email Address - an email address dedicated to the agent. Do not use a personal email address.
  5. Click “Create”
  6. In the Edit Agent page, click Connect mailbox to authenticate and give agent permission to access the mailbox.
  7. Configure the agent by changing their properties to match your requirements.
    • Name (Required)
    • LLM provider (Required)
    • LLM model (Required)
    • Instructions (Required)
    • Webhook URL (Optional) Your system endpoint to receive webhooks. Set this to the HTTP proxy tool URL for local development.
    • Webhook Secret (Optional)
    • Event configurations (Optional)
  8. Click “Save”
Your agent is now ready to send and respond to emails! Webhook and Event configurations are optional but recommended as they will allow your agent to provide output and request additional context from your systems via HTTP webhooks.
